The Asian Law Institute (ASLI), in collaboration with NUS Faculty of Law’s Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS), is convening the inaugural Asian Law Junior Faculty Workshop to be held on 13 June 2019 (immediately after the 16th ASLI Conference, which will be held on 11 and 12 June 2019). This workshop aims to attract leading research from younger scholars on topics related to Asian jurisdictions, and to provide a platform for them to receive critical feedback on their research from established Asian law scholars.
Papers proposed can be on any topic that relates to one or more Asian legal systems or traditions, as well as work that compares a topic in one or more Asian legal systems or traditions with non-Asian systems or traditions. Applicants will be shortlisted based on their abstracts and invited to submit full length papers of between 10,000-15,000 words (including footnotes). Thereafter, the organizers will select between 8 to 12 participants to attend the Junior Faculty Workshop at the National University of Singapore. Selected participants will receive travel funding to cover their return (economy) airfare and accommodation in Singapore for the duration of the Workshop and the ASLI Conference.
Eligible applicants should have been in a full-time academic or research position for not more than 7 years (including post-doctoral positions) as of 1 January 2019. Please submit your application with an abstract of no more than 350 words and a brief bio clearly indicating your academic experience and eligibility here. The deadline for submission is 12 November 2018. Successful applicants are expected to also participate in the ASLI Conference.
