The Society’s Journal is soliciting submissions for future issues. Articles should be between 8,000 and 12,000 words (excluding footnotes) and be submitted exclusively to the AsianJIL, with publication subject to double-blind peer-review and editorial discretion. Call for Papers - Centre for Asian Legal Studies & Asian Law Institute

Young Scholars Workshop 2013

The Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS) and Asian Law Institute (ASLI) are pleased to invite applications to present a paper at the Centre’s Young Scholars Workshop 2013. The theme is ‘Asian Legal Studies: New Issues and New Scholarship’. The Workshop will be held at NUS in Singapore from 5 to 6 December 2013.

Consistently with the aims and purposes of CALS & ASLI, the workshop is intended to cultivate the next generation of Asian law scholarship. Early career academics, doctoral students, and young legal professionals with an interest in scholarship, are encouraged to apply. Paper-givers will be selected through a competitive process and will have their travel and accommodation expenses covered.

*Please take note abstracts from LLM or Undergraduates Students are not accepted.

Theme for the Workshop
The Workshop is intended to provide a platform for younger academics from the region to discuss on-going research in Asian laws with one another and more senior commentators. Participants will be selected on the basis of the originality and developmental potential of their proposed papers.
Proposals from young scholars and professionals across the region are encouraged on any topic, but especially law-and-society topics.

Paper submissions may be considered for publication in the Asian Journal of Comparative Law, subject to peer-review and editorial discretion.

Abstracts of proposed papers and bio-data should not exceed 300 words each, and are to be submitted by email to

Hague Academy of International Law

External Programme - 40th session

At the end of the 1960s, the Academy established the "external program", which is normally held each year, in turn in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, upon the invitation of host governments or international organizations. The program is a means not only of developing knowledge of topics of international law relevant for the region, but also, by the way in which it is organized, of promoting mutual familiarity among students from countries in the region.

Topic: Stability and Change in the Law of the Sea: Challenges for the 21st Century

Language: English

Candidates: The Programme is aimed at young university teachers and young diplomats and civil servants from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or other interested Ministries with a high scientific level in Public International Law.

Participants: Local Participants: 20 (or more) Indian participants, selected by Indian Authorities.

Regional Participants: 15/20 participants from foreign countries of the region, selected by the Hague Academy; from: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam.

Call for Papers - German Year Book of International Law

The German Yearbook of International Law is Germany’s oldest yearbook in the field of public international law. The GYIL is published annually by the Walther Schücking Institute for International Law at the University of Kiel. Those interested in publishing a General Article in the GYIL should submit a manuscript conforming with the house style of the GYIL (which is available on request or via our website) dealing with any topic of interest in the field of public international law to the editors by 1 September 2013.
